DeeDee Sullivan

Bellarmine College Preparatory

Invited to coach the Speech and Debate team at Bellarmine College Preparatory in 1998 by the late James Harville, Dr. Deirdre “DeeDee” Sullivan began her career with no experience in forensics. Despite her inexperience, she forged forward, learning the intricacies of different events, and committing herself to teaching students how to publicly speak. In 25 years of coaching, her passion for understanding current events, inspiring the next generation of leaders, and teaching AP US History has earned her the distinction of being the most decorated 3rd Diamond coach at Bellarmine. But above all, it has earned her the respect and love of her colleagues and students.

While Dr. Sullivan has added Policy Debate, Original Advocacy, and Congress to her coaching repertoire, her heart lies with Extemp. She has coached multiple Extemp National Finalists and a plethora of CHSSA State Champions and Finalists. She is a staple at all our League Tournaments and she single-handedly runs Extemp Prep at the CHSSA State Tournament. Most importantly, at the heart of her service is her humility, dedication, and commitment to better serving students through speech and debate. The Coast Forensic League is honored to nominate Dr. Sullivan to the CHSSA Hall of Fame.
