Nermin Fraser to Be Inducted into the CHSSA Hall of Fame at the 2025 State Championship
Culver City, CA, March 2, 2025 — The California High School Speech Association (CHSSA) is honored to announce that Nermin Fraser will be inducted into the CHSSA Hall of Fame at the 2025 State Championship, taking place May 2-4 at Culver City High School.
For more than 15 years, Fraser has been a cornerstone of CHSSA—a competitor, a coach, a mentor, and a leader whose dedication has left a lasting mark on the organization. She spent 13 years as State Tournament Director and Vice President of Activities, not just overseeing CHSSA’s most prestigious event, but transforming it. Under her leadership, the State Championship evolved into the extraordinary experience it is today, introducing technological innovations, streamlined operations, and a deep commitment to making every moment meaningful for students and coaches alike.
Beyond her leadership at the state level, Fraser built a strong coaching legacy at La Mirada High School, where she inspired countless students to find their voices through speech and debate. Her influence shaped not only the competitors and educators she worked with but also the very traditions that define CHSSA today.
“Nermin Fraser didn’t just run the State Tournament—she made it better, year after year,” said CHSSA President Mikendra McCoy. “Her leadership, kindness, and tireless dedication ensured that CHSSA’s flagship event wasn’t just well-organized, but truly special for every student who walked through its doors.”
Fraser will be formally inducted into the CHSSA Hall of Fame during the 2025 State Championship Awards Ceremony in Culver City.
